Toothpaste is nothing new. In fact, it can be traced all the way back to the Egyptians around 5000BC. However, for the past 7000(ish) years, not a lot has changed. Yes, we may have changed the ingredients, but the style and the delivery methods we have used have always been the same (yes, toothpaste in a paste form and a toothbrush).
So what are Brush Fresh looking to do differently?
Well, our goal is two-fold, we want to bring you products which are great for your dental health as well as aimed at reducing our impact on the environment.
So how do we do that, especially when you've said that the products that we use on a day to day basis have not changed radically?
The first step to change is in the ingredients we use. Brush Fresh are committed to using only the highest quality ingredients to deliver the best in teeth cleaning power. To find out about our products, why not check out our blog post "Why Choose Brush Fresh Natural, Vegan Toothpaste Tablets" where we detail what we use in each and everyone of our tablets.
As you can see, there are no nasty hidden additives. We use only natural and vegan ingredients which are completely cruelty-free and ones which come from sustainable sources.
But one question we are often asked is "Is Fluoride Bad For You?" or "Why Should I Choose a Fluoride Toothpaste and not a Fluoride Free Toothpaste"?
As dentists ourselves, we understand and appreciate the reasons for question like this. The internet is full of people who say that fluoride is bad for you and you shouldn't use it.
But when it comes to teeth, why is fluoride so important? To put it simply, brushing your teeth with a fluoride toothpaste is one of the most effective ways to prevent tooth decay. The reason being that fluoride in toothpaste reduces the demineralization process, where is when tooth decay starts to occur, as well as helping areas where demineralized has already occurred to remineralize. Fluoride also helps fight dental plaque - the main reason behind tooth decay and gum disease.
That's why the Brush Fresh team will always recommend the use of a fluoride based toothpaste product to reduce the risk of cavities and tooth decay.
But, we also appreciate that some people will choose a fluoride free toothpaste. Certain medical conditions for example recommend low doses of fluoride, or a completely fluoride free diet. Some people may also be consuming enough fluoride from their diet to warrant not needing any further fluoride from their toothpaste. And of course, younger children (under two) should have a fluoride free toothpaste anyway.
Unlike other toothpaste tablet providers, we do provide a fluoride free option in our toothpaste tablets, so whatever choice you make, we have a product for you.
So, we've looked at the ingredients. But what else makes Brush Fresh different? Our ethos for providing dental products in a sustainable and eco-friendly way.
All of our products come packaged in cardboard which can be recycled easily using your standard recyclable bin at home. And because we use cardboard rather than plastic or glass, it's much easier for the waste management companies to reuse and recycle. Cardboard uses less products and come from sustainable sources, making it the best product for packaging.
Most importantly, our toothpaste tablets do not use any plastic tubes unlike the majority of ledsing brands. With over 1 billion toothpaste tubes used every year, and with the majority of these going to landfill, we're aiming to seriously reduce the impact on the environment that these products have.
And our bamboo toothbrushes come from sustainable sources which are compostable - simply dispose of them (after removing the bristles) in your green recyclable bin, and these will reduce to compost unlike standard plastic toothbrushes.
Brush Fresh is run by a team of UK dentists and our toothpaste tablets are researched, developed and manufactured right here in the UK. The Bamboo for our toothbrush products
are sourced from ethical and sustainable sellers and shipped to the UK, where we have designed and manufacture a ergonomically sound toothbrush aimed at providing the best cleaning possible - even for those hard to reach places.
